I guess Hasbro never really make it clear how exactly Twilight get her income so everypony could be right, just see this as a funny page don't have to be too serious. Honestly I didn't think her as a librarian as I paint this. It seems like CMC and RD are the only ponies who ever rent books; ponies in Ponyville hate reading! (?)
When I saw AppleJack and Rarity work hell hard for their career, it became a strong contrast to Twilight, who does her study most of the time, and that was the motivation for this painting.
